FAQ

Courses

Are the courses for beginners?

Yes, our classes are open to all levels. Instructors adapt to each participant’s needs, and everyone progresses at their own pace. Beginners learn the foundational techniques for making cups and bowls, while more advanced students can explore complex forms and assembled pieces.

How long is a class?

Each 2.5-hour class includes a walkthrough of the steps, a live demonstration, hands-on practice guided by the instructor, and time to clean and care for your tools and workspace.

I'm a beginner, what activity should I start with?

One of the most accessible activities is ceramic painting; otherwise, an introductory course is perfect for discovering the craft during a throwing or handbuilding session.

Can we come as a family?

Pottery classes are intended for participants aged 14 and over (accompanied by an adult enrolled in the class), due to the size of the equipment and the technical skills involved. Children aged 5 and up are welcome, however, during our ceramic painting activities.

What is the cancellation policy?

General Provisions
Tendre Atelier reserves the right to modify or cancel a course or activity if circumstances require. In such cases, a full refund or the option to reschedule will be offered.

Courses and workshops are held in small groups. It is the responsibility of participants to ensure that the selected dates and times fit their availability. Missed classes cannot be made up and no make-up sessions are guaranteed.

Certain activities, workshops, or private events require a minimum number of participants. If this minimum is not reached, the activity may be canceled and an alternative will be communicated by email.

Cancellation or Modification by the Client
Any request for cancellation or modification must be sent by email.

  • 7 days or more before the activity
→ rescheduling at no charge or full refund.
  • Between 3 and 6 days before the activity
→ rescheduling possible or 50% refund of the amount paid.
  • Less than 48 hours before the activity
→ no refund or rescheduling will be granted.

This policy also applies in cases of illness or personal emergencies. Reservations may, however, be transferred to another person (friend or family member).

Course Sessions and Memberships
For course sessions, any cancellation must be made at least 7 days before the start date to qualify for rescheduling or a credit.

Once the session has begun, no cancellations or refunds are possible. Absences from one or more classes within a session do not entitle the participant to a refund.

Where can I buy the Tendre Atelier collection?

Marie’s pieces are always on display and available for purchase at the studio boutique, open by appointment or during class hours. The collection is also available at the fine craft boutique “L’Empreinte” in Old Montréal, as well as at seasonal events such as 1001 Pots in Val-David.

Painting on ceramics

When can I pick up the piece I painted during the session?

The pieces require firing time. They are generally ready for pickup a few weeks after the session. All information regarding collection will be provided to you during the activity.

Which pieces are available for ceramic painting?

We offer cups, tumblers, saucers, and plates ready to paint. Each ceramic piece is handmade, so every one is beautifully unique.

What is the cancellation policy?

Appointments for ceramic painting cannot be rescheduled and are non-refundable in case of cancellation.
