Introduction to Wheel-Throwing

75$ CAD

This introductory pottery course offers a first experience at the wheel, designed to help you understand the essential gestures and discover the magic of centering. You will finish with clear, practical reference points: how to set yourself up, how to work with clay, and how to correct the most common mistakes.

The 2.5-hour introductory session includes one piece, which we will finish for you. It will be ready for collection a few weeks later, after drying, glazing, and firing by the studio.

Ideal for beginners or for those wishing to practice further and strengthen their foundations, in a small group of up to six participants.

Course outline:

After an introduction to the fundamentals of wheel-throwing and a demonstration at the wheel, you will be guided step by step in centering the clay and shaping your first pieces. Each participant will have the opportunity to throw three or four pieces. Trial and error are part of the process! Time is set aside at the end of the session to clean the workspace and tools. Your selected piece will then be dried, glazed, and fired at the studio.

Classes in french, possibility of providing assistance in English during free practice.
Participants must be 13 years old and over.
