A four-week session designed to build strong foundations in pottery, week after week. We focus on posture, centering, opening, pulling, essential forms, and repetition. The program is thoughtfully structured to provide clear guidance and precise, constructive feedback. No prior experience is required to begin wheel throwing.
You will take part in every stage of creating your piece, from throwing to finishing, including decoration and glazing.
Over the course of four weeks, you may produce up to eight pieces (depending on your pace and the drying and firing process). Finished works will be ready for collection a few weeks later, once firing has been completed by the studio.
Classes in french, possibility of providing assistance in English during free practice
Overview:
Weeks 1 & 2: After an introduction to the fundamentals of wheel throwing and a demonstration at the wheel, you will be guided step by step through centering the clay and shaping your first pieces. Trial and error are embraced as part of the learning process.
Week 3
You will trim your pieces on the wheel, shaping the foot and refining the form. You’ll then add any finishing touches and carved details before the pieces are left to dry.
Week 4
You will decorate your pieces using underglaze drawing techniques or by dipping them in glaze.
Time is reserved at the end of each session to clean the workspace and tools.
